Today the Camino took me up 1000 feet to Cruz de Ferro (and then back down almost as far.) Following tradition, I left a stone at the base of the cross. With the stone, I left behind some of the weight I have been carrying - on this journey and in life.
While it was a challenging hike over Monte Irago - the highest point on the Camino, where the cross stands - it was also beautiful. A continuous painting of bright flowers in the foreground with mountains fading into mist in the distance.
Tomorrow: Descend another 2000 ft into Ponferrada (in the distance below), where I will spend two nights at Apartamentos TurĂsticos Guiana.
